I’m Not Proud of Indonesia

Do you remember when our national anthem was sung out by thousands of our national team supporters in Istora Senayan Jakarta 2010? It was a great memory in many people’s mind, because many people were very happy with and proud of Indonesia at that time. It sounds like we are the champion, we are the great nation. But the fact?? We are the loser. For me, it shows happiness for a while, it shows temporary nationalism. I’m not proud of Indonesia, because Indonesia has many problems, many corruptors that suck.

Let us describe your pride for Indonesia one by one. I just want to describe three things of Indonesia’s stupidity. First, we are always pleased when we are able to help the Palestinian nation. Do you know there are so many poor people in Papua, Sulawesi, even in Jogja, untouched by our government and our society? It is funny when we are collecting money for the victims of war in Palestine, but there are so many people suffering from malnutrition among us. Second, Indonesia sends The Indonesians Army on behalf of UN to Syria, Congo, Cambodia, and many more. For some people, it shows that we have brave army, strong army, social minded, international relationship minded. But for me, it just shows the other stupidity, why? Because there are so many rebellions/separatism in our country, it is better if the army destroys them first, then we can go abroad to save the war victims. It is a stupid political policy. The third, I’m sure that all of us are familiar with Habibie. Indonesia dumps Habibie. But we will be proud of him when Germany, Russia, etc, accept him or give him a reward for his idea. Indonesian foolish citizens are proud when the other countries are more respectful of him than our nation/citizen.

Those are a few things that made ​​me think again about being proud of Indonesia. In my opinion, we are proud on the cover, not the content. Let’s rethink again about our definition of nationalism and pride. Fix anything that was broken, then let’s talk about pride. Be Proud if it is really Indonesia!!!
